ALFRED LIM ARCHITECTURE E-PORTFOLIO (part 2)
SEMESTER 5
Architectural Design 5
(ARC60608)
Ar. Fadzwin Hashim
The module is a design studio that emphasizes the idea of ‘place-making for the urban communities. Students will undertake a studio-based exercise that deals with urban blocks within a dense urban environment. The emphasis in this module will be on exploring the notion of ‘place-making’ and architecture that respond to this notion. Developing your design thinking as an architectural narrative, forming proposals that are poetic expressions of ideas. Projects will not promote complex programmatic and organizational problems but will rather allow in-depth exploration and interpretations.
BUILDING SERVICES
(BLD 61904)
Dr. Mohamed Rizal Mohamed
In this module students are introduced to the basic services systems commonly provided in buildings, primarily cold and hot water supply, sanitary and sewerage system, rainwater management, electrical supply, fire protection in buildings, mechanical ventilation, air-conditioning systems and vertical transportation systems. Students will also learn about building codes such as Uniform Building By-Law (UBBL) and other relevant laws and standards related to the subject matters.
GREEN STRATEGIES FOR BUILDING DESIGN (ARC61804)
Ar. Axxu Hoi Jung Wai
This module is an exploration of passive sustainable strategies in architectural design. It looks at the different elements that make up architecture and how the integration of passive design strategies with these elements contribute to the quality of spatial experience within a building. Student will undertake case studies to analyse the applications of these strategies and their impact on the quality and experience of space. The understanding of the various passive sustainable design strategies will inform the students’ own studio project.
ENERGY AND ARCHITECTURE
(ARC61904)
Mr. Bruce Lee Xia Sheng
The module will provide students a comprehensive understanding of how energy is used in buildings. Hence, will introduce principles and ways to achieve energy efficiency in environmental systems operation, renewable energy technology and architectural design features.
